Reliability analysis is carried out to determine the probability that a product can perform its function, under specified conditions, for a specified period of time. As a result, a reliability value is obtained in the range of 0-1 or 0-100 for parts, components, products or systems.
The safety factor used in the traditional product design may not guarantee 100% of the reliability of a product, and moreover, it may result in a weak or costly design.
